You can now "breathe". Prana is now available in New Bern and Beaufort.

PrAna, an ancient Sanskrit word for breath, life and vitality of the spirit, started 17 years ago making clothing that worked well for climbing and yoga. It turned out the clothing worked well for lots of other passions too, so we added new products with purpose in mind and scoured the world for design inspiration.
Designed and built for the great outdoors, Prana clothing is rugged and functional; however, you will not find a more fashionable outdoor clothing company. Everyone loves the designs and the Prana pants have a fit second to none. Get wild and scary but make sure you are wearing your Prana. You will love it and so will your pet rabbit.

Baskets can make the bike!

I pedal for enjoyment but I also use my bike for utility. Groceries, commuting to work, and dinner take-out are the primary utility purposes for riding my bike. The baskets make this possible. I enjoy a quick removable basket on the front so it is also available as a shopping basket. On the rear rack, I have zip-tied a large basket. The two baskets allow me to distribute the load when commuting with items for work and for hauling multiple bags of groceries.

For heavier loads, use a basket that attaches more permanently to the bike frame. Many front baskets attach to the wheel axle with basket stays. This can also be a good choice. Front baskets can be easier than rear baskets to install but with heavier loads, both a front and a rear basket may be necessary.

Remember... biking is fun but biking with accessories is even more fun.

Check out our complete selection of bikes, accessories, and Life is good bike graphic t-shirts at One World Shoppe.

What makes a great beach cruiser bike?

Comfort should be the #1 criteria following closely with durability. For comfort, look for a cruiser bike with higher handlebars so you will be sitting more upright. Also check the pedal placement and make sure the pedals are slightly forward of the seat. This will allow you to easily place your feet on the ground when stopped.

Durability starts with high quality raw materials and nicely machined components. High quality chromoly steel frame will provide a nice ride for years. Many cyclist love the ride and feel of steel. Steel has great elasticity (can be bent, stretched and still remain strong). The feel of the ride on a steel bike is still a favorite. The slight flexing of the frame creates a "floating" feel. The downside -- rust.

Aluminum is a great choice for cruiser bikes along the coast where humidity and moisture in the air feels salty. Aluminum is corrosion resistant. Aluminum is also light. For this reason, One World Shoppe tries to stock primarily aluminum frame bikes. Make sure the rims are also aluminum alloy and the spokes should be stainless steel.

Silly Bandz... all the rage in New Bern

They are theme shaped silicon rubber bands that kids love. You can see kids and adults wearing multiple bands around the wrist making a popular, trendy fashion statement. No one knows how long the Silly Bandz trend will last, but the craze is, to say the least, simply crazy. Trying to find a consistent supply chain to feed the craze has proven to be difficult. Receiving shipments is taking weeks so stores are running out. New themes are in the highest demand. Kids love to trade. Maybe this is the modern day version of trading baseball cards (post discovery of widespread major league steroid use). Other brands have also proven to be popular, such as Funky Bandz and Crazy Bandz. One World Shoppe currently has a great supply of Silly Bandz. Check it out.

Feel Good and Look Good in New Bern clothing

New Bern, NC is one of the most friendly towns in the south. Also, according to several printed news sources, it is also NC's most romantic town. The historic downtown area is bordered by water in almost island fashion (although New Bern is not an island). One of the best kept secrets of the south, New Bern is quickly showing up on travel radars. We are not sure how much longer this town will be a secret. Rooted in rich colonial and civil war history, New Bern is NC's second oldest town. Strolling through town, you will find old, restored colonial homes, historic churches and buildings, trees cloaked with spanish moss, the pharmacy where Pepsi Cola was founded, a cannon from the Revolutionary war half buried in the sidewalk, and of course a horse and carriage touring service. The restaurants are second to none. You can expect great seafood because living off the rivers, sound, and ocean is part of our history. If you are not a big fan of seafood, try the downtown Mennonite restaurant, Baker's Square. Stroll in and out of the quaint shops. Don't forget to visit the Life is good Genuine Neighborhood Shop on Middle St. Life is so good in New Bern, the Life is good shirts are a favorite among the locals. This is where the sales pitch begins!

Let's celebrate New Bern's 300 year anniversary with New Bern labeled hoodies, cotton fleece jackets, and ballcaps. Full-zip Hoodie and full-zip fleece jackets are 80% cotton and 20% poly. Fabric next to skin is super soft cotton fleece. These jackets and hoodies are unbelievably soft. You have to feel it to believe it. Full-zip jacket is princess cut for a great fit for women. Hoodie is unisex sized so women may decide to order one size down. New Bern clothing is not a Life is good product; however, the quality and feel of the products are superb.

"New Bern" script is across the front chest and lettering is a tattered two tone applique. Be good and look good, if you like our other products, you will love these New Bern pieces.

How do you roll with your commuter bike?

Cycling is a great way to roll to work, shopping, and leisure. Get in shape, reduce your car maintenance and gas bills, and enjoy the fresh air while commuting. All good reasons to roll with spokes. The best reason... bikes are simply very cool. What makes a great commuter bike? How do you pimp your spokes?

I initially started commuting "messenger style" because I started with a mountain bike. The mountain bike had few options for baskets/cages. I used a traditional messenger bag with a single shoulder strap. This worked OK until I actually purchased a commuter bike and realized the value of baskets. The baskets allowed me to remove the weight from my body (more comfortable) and to spread the load. Sometimes I still use my messenger bag as an addition to the baskets. This allows me to commute with large loads.

What about lights and wheel size? Let us know how you commute on bike. Great cycling tees and messenger bags at www.oneworldshoppe.com.
